My BFF, Leigh

Having an 11-year old, I must admit, I'm amused with the Cingular Unlimited Texting commercial. Tyler and I often disagree about what's SNF ("so not fair "for those not familiar with the commercial or the lingo). Anyway, every time I hear the tween on the commercial talk about her BFF, Jill-- I think about my BFF, Leigh.

When my parents moved into the house I grew up in when I was 3 years old, one of it's best features was my sweet little next door neighbor, Leigh. My mom says that as we were moving in, she came over and said "Hi, I'm Leigh!" And the rest was history. Leigh was just 9 days younger than me and we were pretty much inseparable growing up until about high school when different interests took us down different paths. We are both very busy ladies and we live in different cities now and admittedly have done a horrible job of keeping in touch, but we recently reconnected via myspace and were able to spend a little time together this past weekend.

One of the fun things about the two of us is that even though we are terrible at keeping in touch, when we get together, it's like we never skipped a beat! We also have some almost eerie similarities -- almost like twins separated for years and put back together to find they've been leading parallel lives. :) One of those similarities is that without knowing it, we both went through pregnancy at the same time and our babies were due within 12 days of one another. This weekend, we introduced those babies, Grace and Cooper to each other. They had such a good time and it was great to watch them playing together.

Hopefully our kiddos will give us a good reason to keep in touch. Of course, I tried to talk Leigh into moving into one of the available houses across the street so Coop and Grace could be the "new us," but unfortunately her job makes that an impossibility. Oh well, here's to future get-togethers!
